The history of this extensive country estate goes back to the year 1070 when the Norman aristocrat Ruggero von Altavilla founded the Cistercian monastery here. Today it is a well-managed country estate extending on the area of 14 ha and located on the hills on the south fringe of the Plain of Catania. You will enjoy here an absolutely spectacular view of the Plain of Catania, of the Mount Etna and of the sea. The last one is only 8 km away (sandy beach and rocky coast around the small fisher village Brucoli). This exceptional location has some more advantages: firstly, it is just between Catania (airport 28 km) and Syrcuse (about 40 km); secondly, such important tourist attractions as the biggest and the most active volcano in Europe, the most magnificent river valley of Sicily - Anao Valley with its caves, Necropolis of Pantalica, the baroque towns Noto and Modica and the production centre of pottery - the city Caltagirone are reachable within less than 1hour; last but not least, Piazza Armerina (the Roman villa with 3500 sq,m, of mosaics) and Taormina are only about 85 km away.

The town Carlentini with shops is located in the middle of the fertile valley floor and only 4 km away.

In this estate you can also admire an orange plantation, olive trees and Mediterranean ornamental vegetation around the house.

The guests reach the house through a private driveway and can park their car on the parking.

You can pleasantly refresh yourself lying on one of many sunbeds under the sun umbrella near the swimming pool (12 m x 6 m x 1,20-2,00 m, open from the beginning of May to the end of October, dependent on the weather) in the panoramic location. You can also relax yourself in the 2nd. swimming pool (open from March) and in the whirlpool. Horse lovers can take advantage of riding horses, riding instructor and a riding arena - for a fee. Moreover, Tenuta di Roccadia offers some children attractions: small animal enclosure and a pond. It is also worth to enjoy a botanical nature trail with different Mediterranean plants.

The stylish wine bar with an open fire place is in the central area. This place is also used as a breakfast room. If you need privacy by savouring your meal, choose a homely lounge in the annexe. The main restaurant is on the veranda in the garden with beautiful ornamental plants.

The plentiful food bases on meat and vegetables from the estate. The estate's cuisine is a delicious mix of the best local Sicilian country cuisine and creativity: 4 course meal, home-made desserts etc. Moreover, you can also taste a home-made pizza several times a week. Every day waits for you a breakfast buffet (absolutely exquisite home-made jams...)! Last but not least, do not forget to taste the local wines.

30 rustic rooms with solid furnishings are partially situated in the old renovated buildings of Tenuta and feature: veranda or terrace (partially with a view of the hills and the sea); bathroom (with hair dryer); TV, minibar, central heating and an air conditioner. Some family rooms offer also a sleeping gallery for 1-2 children.

You can choose between 2 different types of rooms: Standard and Comfort - more spacious than the first ones. One half of the rooms are in the renovated annexe which is about 300 m away from the central area. These rooms are ideal for the guests who like to walk through the citrus groves. For the guests who need more privacy and quiet there are 8 rooms located higher on the hill (about 650-700m away from the central area), but at the same time they are situated on the flat area and arranged in the horseshoe shape. You have a wide panoramic view of the mountains, the Mount Etna and the sea here!
