This unique and old Palazzo enables you to travel in the past. The small historical town of Gerace is situated on the Ionian coast of Calabria (long sandy beaches, not many beach facilities, very clear water) on a 450 m rocky plateau, away from the mass tourism. This original town with its narrow lanes, small squares, churches and palaces is a jewel of medieval basic structure of the building. It is a high location of the palace that causes a pleasant breath of air even in the hot summer.

This former aristocratic palace is situated in the centre of the small town but in the quiet part of it. It is ancient but it was beautifully restored.

The furnishings harmonise stylish with the architecture of the building. You can really feel the mediaeval atmosphere here. The brick gate with a barrel vault leads into a courtyard with a lot of green and a small garden. This courtyard is common for Palazzo Carmen and Palazzo Cavalcavia. An ancient stone staircase leads the guests from the courtyard up to the main terrace. You can eat your meals here or just relax yourself in the middle of flowers, ornamental shrubs and climbing ivy. You will find some shadow here thanks to the big sunshade, vine pergola and entrance veranda. This stylish Palazzo (about 150 sq.m.) offers you spacious and high rooms. Living room (with L-shaped corner sofa, satellite TV and radio) impresses the guests by its Maiolica floors. From the living room you can reach a roofed terrace with Bougainvillea creeping on the roof. This terrace connects Palazzo with another building (namely a windowless wall) on the other side of the lane. This terrace is only to be used by our guests. This palace offers also: 2 spacious sleeping rooms, stylish dining room with a marble fire place, small but very practical kitchen (***, microwave oven, work surface in granite) with a door to the main terrace. There are also 2 small newly built bathrooms in the Palazzo. One of them is next to the corner sleeping room. You can reach the other one directly through the door from veranda. This palace is very well and with passion for detail equipped (good wooden windows, good beds, insect screens). It is a friendly and warm atmosphere that enchants the guests here.

Our guests can book not only this one Palazzo but also 2 palaces together: Palazzo Cavalcavia and Palazzo Carmen (in the neighbourhood). This is a very good solution for small groups of holiday-makers; up to 10 persons. Many spacious rooms in these 2 palaces enable every guest to find their privacy.

All shops and restaurants are to be reached within easy walking distance. There is a car park in the neighbourhood (35 m). The distance to the sea is less than 10 km.

A tip for individualists: to live in the Palazzo, to eat breakfast on a typical piazza and to eat dinner in one of the rustic trattoria (home-made pickled vegetables and mushrooms appetisers, home-made pasta!)
