The ancient "palazzo"
The historical small town Gerace is located on the Ionian coast of Calabria (long sandy beaches, not many lidos, very clean water) on a 450 m high huge rock, apart of the mass tourism. The original townscape with its narrow lanes, little places, churches and residential houses is a jewel of mediaeval architectural fabric. Because of the height there, even in summer there is a pleasant draught.

That ancient, expensively restored aristocratic "palazzo" with atmosphere and furniture in proper style, is located in the centre of the small town.
An entrance vault leads into an inner courtyard and a small garden, an ancient stone staircase leads up to a terrace with pond and grape pergola. The house offers a kitchen with ancient oven, large living room with open fireplace (30 sqm), 2 bedrooms with sea view, one behind the other, each of them 30 sqm (one of them can be used as study) and a bathroom. Heating with electric stove, washing machine. A winding staircase leads up to a roof terrace with a dreamlike panorama over the roofs of the ancient town up to the coast of Locri and the sea. From the living room an outside staircase leads down into the garden layed out with a pond, palm trees, cypresses, bamboo, apricot and fig trees, kiwifruit, bougainvillea and so on.

All the shops and restaurants of the small town are within easy walking distance. Parking space nearby (35 m). Distance from the sea only 10 km.

Advice for individualists: living in the palazzo, having breakfast in the village square, having dinner in a lovely trattoria (homemade mushroom and pickled vegetable starters, homemade pasta!). There is the possibility of reserving, on site, at a convenient fixed price breakfast and main meal.
